Who We Are

About Triangle Care Management

LGBTQ+ Care When You Need It!

Our mission: to provide LGBTQ+ people who are aging or disabled with a personalized path to care that supports comfort, safety and dignity. We aim to provide a gateway to services that are LGBTQ affirming and to lower financial barriers to accessing care.

Our vision:

●      Provide care management that provides expertise in securing quality medical and long-term care and referrals to LGBTQ+-friendly services and resources.

●      Create residential communities, such as assisted living residences and licensed board and care homes that are designed around the specific needs and culture of LGBTQ+ people.

●      Activate the community to establish a sustainable financial foundation to maintain continuity and accessibility of services.

Cultural Humility

TCM leadership values and practices cultural humility. The prevailing training in cultural competency must include a continuous process by which we communicate.

●     Approach individuals with humility.  Passionately learn, value and respect another’s culture and vision of the world

●     Be aware of any personal biases that may interfere with establishing trust, connection, comfort and safety.

●     Lead with compassion for another person’s journey and condition.

The TCM Journey: Acknowledgements

January 8, 2023, in Los Angeles, during my presentation for PALS (Planning Ahead for LGBTQ+ Seniors) on planning ahead before a health issue at the Uptown Lesbian and Gay Alliance (UGLA) in celebration of their 40th year, I mentioned my dream of establishing an organization that an LGBTQ+ person could call for help in coordinating care during a health issue.  After the presentation, David Calvo approached me along with Justin Blackburn, Erick Vasquez, and Juliano Calvo to express their support for such an organization and offered to help create it.  The train was ready to leave the station!  Within the next few months, David provided the path forward to create the nonprofit.

We began planning meetings.  As we promoted the vision, more people came forward: Matthew Wilkinson, William Watt-Aguilar, Kelly Watson, currently our Treasurer,  Board Members Emeriti Lauren Kabakoff-Vincent, Alex Snell, and Tom Peterson.  Every one of these angels, including the present board members, Brittany Cabanas and Barry Flynn, few in numbers but huge in heart, have contributed to creating Triangle Care Management.  We now look forward to new angels coming forward to provide the leadership and financial support to make the Triangle Care Management vision a reality, to begin providing LGBTQ+ sensitive care management services and affordable care residences.
